I’m a big fan of breakfast foods, pretty much at any time of the day. After an unsuccessful attempt at going to Sugar Mama’s for breakfast because they were closed due to the E.Coli scare in Portland, I ended up at Kenny & Zuke’s Delicatessen.
This visit wasn’t my first time though, but it still counts as a culinary adventure because I tried two new things I’ve never eaten before! I got the 222 on the All-day Breakfast menu, which consisted of 2 slices of pastrami, 2 eggs, and 2 latkes, with a choice of toast, bagel, or a bialy. I’ve never had a latke before, and I didn’t know what a ‘bialy’ was so I decided to try it. A bialy is sort of like a bagel and there is a depression in the middle where they fill it with garlic or onion. The latke was amazing! I can’t believe I’ve never had one before. You really can’t go wrong with potatoes, especially when you fry them.
Overall, great breakfast, even though both Nick and I got a mild case of food poisoning later, probably because of the sunnyside-up eggs… However, that doesn’t deter me from coming back and trying other things on their menu.
